Because they don't know. plain & simple. It isn't them doing the banning & Shazbawt isn't filling them in on how he's determining who gets banned & who doesn't. It's all willy nilly really. As you can tell by this thread alone.

I apparently just got my 10+ year old account permabanned for botting (Code 45).

Utter rubbish. Submitted a ticket.

REAL glad I just started playing again.

Edit: I do own three accounts, I started playing way back before you could buy slots.

Both my wife's and my own account just got banned, about 30 minutes ago, right in front of our eyes, at the exact same time.

We're playing on separate computers. No 3rd party program what-so-ever. Our accounts are about 8 years old with no previous history of being banned for anything. Heck, no account of ours has ever been banned before on any MMO.

We were each sitting semi-AFK in different outposts while we took a break for lunch. I was giving away dedicated miniatures for free in Kamadan when Dhumm came out of the ground in front of my eyes and banned me.

The only thing I can think of is that I spent a good part of the day getting a new character rushed through Istan, but I don't think that's a bannable offense. But from the way this thread seems to have lit up recently, I'm going to assume the NCSoft is having a problem with their banning-bot.

I did go to here and submit a support ticket. But the way people on here talk about tickets being ignored for months fills me with dread.

Your Guild Wars account has been terminated for using a bot or other third-party program, which is a breach of the User Agreement and Rules of Conduct. This action is permanent. (Code=045)

my last 2 accounts are gone now as well....and my tinfoil hat is indeed on...I know what they are doing for the 10th anniversary--closing the game down by banning everyone whether they have done anything wrong or not.

and Melanie Mckenzie, I COMPLETELY understand...I cried for the first week and it still pains me now.

my bench is now a whole grand stand, plenty of seats for everyone.

Just wondering, did anyone else who got banned recently buy anything in their online store? This is just a wild guess, but...

On 2/8/15 I paid $43.76 for four addition bank slots. Only 9 days later the account gets banned. And before that it has been a long time since I bought anything from the GW1 store. So...

Probably has nothing to do with it, but I'm trying to think of reasons for the account getting shut down. This is the only idea I could think of that seemed out of the ordinary.

I have access to about 4 of my friends accounts that have retired. Everything has been banned... Ticket sent, I am quite upset. No history of bans, or terminations, or suspensions..

I literally just picked this game up again 2 weeks ago to help a friend max their HoM... This is saddening.

What the heck has been goimg on? I am away from guru for awhile and when I check in, people have been banned from the game.

I have been logging on daily on 2 or 3 of my 4 accounts, and was never aware of a mass banning. I have noticed a couple of my "friends" have not been in game in awhile, from being on daily to gone. Maybe......

Sorry to hear about all the lost accounts.

It's beyond my comprehension why you guys haven't started a thread of people who solely got banned in the US territory and sought the aid of a lawyer at this point for a "mass action".

I'm a lawyer myself (not in United States) but through out my whole gamer life on English boards (forums) i'm quite familiar that the costs are not that high and the odds usually run in favor of the petitioners itself.

Big companies such as NCSoft and ArenaNet usually tries to make a deal even before the first audience to minimize the risk of being condemned for such a petty thing that will only bleed their resources and could be avoided simply by unbanning some unhappy users on a game that the company itself doesn't care about.

It doesn't matter if they are right or wrong.

They know that lawyers are thirst for such cases and will do anything to get pennies from their pocket even a deal sounds good for them since they will get their honorarium paid by the company to put the case down and be gone with such insignificant litigation.

That way everyone would be happy. And for such a inconvenience and we know how companies usually tend to workaround them we would watch from the front sit lousy employees getting their ass fired for doing stupidities ( shazbawt )

My two cents. I'm not playing anymore

I just called my brother, told him to check his Guild Wars account. Both him and his wife are also banned.

I'm beginning to suspect that they are Code 45 banning if two (or more) accounts have been detected using the same IP Address. Nothing more than that.

Sounds about right.. My husband also got banned for no reason, his account was created when proph was released, never had any issues with anything, has never botted or done something else against the EULA.

So thats both my accounts and his account, all banned the same day (probably the same moment, but only one account was logged on at the time), and have been using the same IP for all 3.

Again, I've never touched a bot in my life, I find botting very wrong and its my opinion that it ruins the game for other players. Why the hell would someone like me, who LOVES farming in gw1 and working for her things, ever use a bot. Its outrageous.

1. the dude talking about lawyering up. Editting to make this put in a nicer way... You have no case. Read the EULA. If you are talking about lawyering up this should have been the first thing you did. Come on, this is a video game. Not like this is real life or anything.

2. About to log in. If logging in 2x from the same ip is bannable. I'll be banned. Here's the moment of truth.

I'm not banned. So your theory about banning for 2x on same IP is wrong.

It's true Surge, if someone goes that far I would suggest to get a life too. Yes there is life beyond an electronic game.

I'm just pointing out that there are other ways to get around this messed up banning.

But people in USA are lawyering up against red bull because the drink doesn't give wings as advertised (and they won, how sad and broken is that?! )

http://topclassactions.com/lawsuit-s...on-settlement/

They are lawyering up against Sony because the PSN (Playstation Network) was out of service for 2 days after a DDoS (hackers) attack and to settle down any further intent of people going to court about this they gave 5 days of free service along with some free games. BUT AGAIN, HOW LAME IS THAT?!

That's just two examples of how threatening in court works.

By no means i'm saying that I would do so. To be honest, I was done with Guild Wars since 2011 when there was no PvP scenario. After that I just occasionally passes by the QQ forum and Guru to see how things are going. Like i said it was nothing more than "my two cents" on the matter.

Alright, fair enough. My apologies, I thought you were suggesting lawyering up. I know there have been a bunch of frivolous lawsuits, but this would basically take the cake is my point.

If we are teaching kids that when everything in life doesn't go your way, to simply lawyer up, the next generation is going to have serious problems. Like the one a decade younger than mine, maybe even mine.

Well if they are banning for 2x on the same IP Address, it doesn't work like that. Me and the Miss's have been playing since the Cantha New Years event, no problem until today. And people are finding themselves banned by signing in just one account at a time, not at the moment they fire up two games at once.

If so you won't get banned now, you'll get banned later.

Now I'm not saying that using multiple accounts on the same IP is the reason they are banning. I can only guess. But they are banning accounts that have nothing to do with botting or 3rd party hacks. Something isn't working right on their end.

Checking back in. Two accounts, no bans. I should mention that I've used text mod about a year ago to get another cart title and nothing has happened so far.
